Liturgy is an essential part of Catholic worship services and sacramental events. Our members volunteer to speak the Word of God and to assist the clergy in various ways.

Altar Servers
Altar Servers assist the Priest and Deacons at the Altar during liturgical functions. Students in the fourth grade or older are invited to train with our sacristan, Roger Buch, to learn their duties, gain a better understanding of the Mass, learn the names and function of the vessels and Liturgical books used during the various Liturgies throughout the Church year. Altar servers must have been baptized and received First Holy Communion to be able to serve.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC)
Eucharistic Adoration is a practice where the Blessed Sacrament is exposed and adored by the faithful.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are lay ministers, commissioned by the Pastor to assist with the distribution of Holy Communion at Mass and to the sick. They are called "extraordinary" because they assist the "ordinary ministers" (the Priests and Deacons) with distributing Communion.- This commission is a 2 year commitment.
- EMHCs may minister this sacrament only in their designated parish or institution.
- EMHCs are authorized by the Bishop, recommended by parish leaders and invited by the Pastor. It requires special training in the theological and practical aspects of this ministry.
- This ministry is open to invited members of the parish who have received the sacraments of Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation.
Lectors
Lectors proclaim the Word of God to the assembly at Mass and other liturgies.- This ministry is open to members of the parish who have received the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion and who have a talent for public speaking.
- All Lectors receive training in preparation, diction and use of the microphone.
- Lectors use the assistance of a Lector Workbook, which provides information and historical background on the Scripture readings for the various liturgies during the Church year.
Ushers & Greeters
Usher/Greeters are the ministers of hospitality. This ministry is open to any parishioner willing to come 20 to 30 minutes before Mass and welcome friends and strangers as they enter the church. They help people find seats, assist those with special needs and help respond to emergencies.
Usher/Greeters facilitate the logistics for Liturgy by taking up the collection and passing out or collecting important information. They also help to keep the church looking presentable before and after Mass.
