For those interested in becoming Catholic we offer The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults or Children; also known as RCIA or RCIC. During the process of RCIA/RCIC we introduce many aspects of our Catholic Faith. We teach about the seven Sacraments, forms of prayer, Sacred Tradition, the Magisterium and more. It is during the Easter Vigil that our Candidates and Catechumens are welcomed into the church when they receive the Sacraments of Initiation, which are Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist. RCIC is for those interested in becoming Catholic who are of high school age and RCIA is for those 18 years of age and up.
With the exception of our parent catechesis program, classes begin early September and run through May. All programs of the Office of Faith Formation would not be possible without our many volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering in either of our programs, the Diocese of Kalamazoo require all those 18 years and older to attend a "Protecting God’s Children" workshop and have a background check.
Please contact Barbara Kincaid, Director of RCIA if you would like more information: 269-965--0165 or email [email protected].
